When you push down or release the clutch pedal,it will engage and disengage the engine.

The clutch release bearing rides on the clutch spring and connects the gearbox’s release mechanism to the pressure plate. When you press down on the clutch pedal, the clutch release bearing causes the pressure plate to engage the clutch disc. If you release the clutch pedal, the pressure plate disengages the clutch disc.

As you hear a noise or feel vibration when you press down the clutch pedal to release the clutch,it indicate that the release bearing is worn and needs to be replaced in time.

If the clutch release bearing was broken, then you can not engage the engine,that means you can not accelerate your car with a broken clutch release bearing.
